Brief Autobiography: Jonathan Dombro
My name is Jonathan Dombro. I have lived my whole life in the same house here in San Jose, California. I live with my mom Janet, my dad Steve, and my sister Elysa. We live right here on Curtner and Cottle which is convenient both because it’s close to school and because we like the neighborhood. My family has a large backyard and garden, and because of this, we are able to grow much of our own produce.
I help out when I can in the summer, but the majority of gardening is done by my parents and my older brother Ben, who lives close by. We have a large section of the backyard that is devoted solely to gardening, as well as cherry, apricot, and lemon trees elsewhere in the yard. In the garden, we grow corn, lettuce, berries, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and other vegetables depending on the year. We also have several fruit trees. I love that my family grows some of its own food, because it feels so much better to eat food if you know how it was grown. During summer the backyard looks amazing; everything is in bloom and nature is everywhere you look. Sometimes I love to go outside and watch the lizards and the birds and just relax. I’ve helped my mom plant many times, but I’m looking forward to getting some more experience during this project. Plants are very important, and I can’t wait to learn more about them.
