Student Blog Post Assignment #8 Romanescrew Team Re-cap 

Student Interview of Jacob Sweet

Q: What have you learned?
A: "I have learned that plants grow really fast, but are also very delicate. I also learned that there are many species of pretty much the plant."

Q: What surprised or amazed you?
A: "It surprised me how much insects and weeds were able to muddle with our plants ability to grow. It also amazed me how much variation of success there was in two plants of the same species in the same environment."

Q: What made you laugh?
A: "When we used the base solution on our plants, a film built up instantly at the top and it was pretty funny."

Q: What made you pause and think a little deeper?
A: "I paused to think deeper about why the acid let the plants grow while the base didn't, considering the pH's of the two solutions were equally far away from the neutral 7.

Q: What questions do you have about things you observed or experienced in the garden?
A: "Why cant some plants survive without water if that provides them with nearly all of their energy through photosynthesis? In addition, where would that energy be stored?"

Q: What have you learned? 
A: I learned that plants grow a significant amount depending on how much you water them and how the plants fight for dominance on food and water. 
Q: What surprised or amazed you? 
A: I am amazed on how big the plants grow in a short amount of time. When I think of broccoli, I think of a little bite size green. But they turned out the size of my head. 
Q: What made you laugh? 
A: The rest of the group made me laugh. Testing baking soda on the plant made me laugh because it looked like beans. 
Q: What made you pause and think a little deeper? 
A: Something that made me think a little deeper was thinking about what we would test on the plant because I wanted it to survive, not die. 
Q: What questions do you have about things you observed or experienced in the garden? 
A: I am wondering if the plants would have grown better in a different season or setting?

Student Interview with Sangeetha Damino 
Q: What have you learned?
A:I learned brassica oleracea and that not every plant survives in terms of growth based due to plant competition. 
Q:What surprised or amazed you?
A:I amazed on how much a plant grows in such a short amount of time. Before I thought plants would grow at a shorter rate, but plant A ended up growing 2 inches in a little under a week.
Q: What made you laugh?
A:Nothing really made me laugh but my team made the experience  really fun, especially when we were testing the different effects of pH on the plants. 
Q: What made you pause and think a little deeper?
A:something that made me think a little deeper was the effect of pH on the plant, and whether or not it kill the plant or stunt its growth. Also I wondered how our plant react to change of environment.
Q:What questions of you have about things you
A:I am just wondering if any of the plants will die eventually.

Q: What did you learn?
A: I learned that our plants were able to grow on their own without much help. Also, Brassica Oleracea is a very diverse and interesting species.

Q: What surprised or amazed you?
A: It amazed me how successful plants A and B were while plant C was not very impressive.

Q: What made you laugh?
A: It made me laugh that plant B lived and prospered even though it was an accident that we planted it.

Q: What made you pause and think a little deeper?
A: What made me think deeper was when we could not make a base solution and we had to think of another idea.

Q: What questions do you have about the things you observed or experienced in the garden?
A: Why did plant C fail when it had more room than plants A and B?
